Simple online booking: three screens, no account, no app
A client taps a link from Instagram at 10:40 pm to book Saturday. If on the way she sees "create an account", "download the app" or "enter the SMS code", some of them go back to messages and write "anything on Saturday?". Every extra screen is clients who did not reach the end, and you will not see them in any report, because they left no trace.
Simplicity of booking is not an advertising slogan. It can be counted: how many screens from the link to the confirmation, how many fields to fill in, whether an account, a password or an app is needed, whether a visit can be cancelled without logging in. This article counts it for Slotsy step by step, shows how to test any system in two minutes, and says honestly what simplicity costs.
We checked our own booking flow on 27 September 2026 against the customer help centre; Booksy's and Fresha's requirements of the client against their help centres: Booksy for customers and Fresha.
Short answer. From a link to a specific service a client in Slotsy goes through three screens: date, time, details with confirmation, four fields: first name, last name, phone, email. We counted the same on 27.09.2026 in five other systems: Nakiedy and Bookero also book without an account, Fresha and SimplyBook.me (in its demo configuration) stop at a sign-in, Booksy books from an account. No account, no password, no app: the confirmation and a link to reschedule arrive by email. An account comes into being only when the client herself wants to sign in, and again without a password: with a one-time link from an email. Fresha, per its help centre, ties every booking to a verified client account; Booksy describes booking from an account in the app, with registration completed by an SMS code.

How to measure simplicity
Seven questions every booking system answers unambiguously. The answers for Slotsy are from the help centre; for Booksy and Fresha from their customer help centres, as of 27.09.2026.
| Question | Slotsy | Booksy | Fresha |
|---|---|---|---|
| Must the client have an account to book online? | no | yes: booking from an account in the app or on booksy.com | yes: the booking is tied to a verified client profile |
| Is a password needed? | no, never: sign-in by a link from an email or through Google | registration with an email and an SMS code | client account registration |
| Is an app needed? | no: a page in the browser | the app or the website with an account | the app or the website with an account |
| Fields the client fills in at the first booking | 4: first name, last name, phone, email | account details: email, personal details, phone number, SMS code | account details |
| Screens from a service link to confirmation | 3 | depends on the mode; registration before the first booking | depends on the mode; registration before the first booking |
| Can she cancel or reschedule without logging in? | yes, from the link in the email | from the account | from the account |
| Can she book in her own language? | yes: Polish, Ukrainian, English | Polish | Polish |
Two things in this table matter more than the rest. The account is the biggest barrier: registration is a separate process with its own fields, and an SMS code is one more place where a client can put the phone down. Cancelling without logging in decides whether a client who cannot come taps the link in the email, writes to you at midnight, or does nothing.
We counted: six systems, 27 September 2026
Rather than trust descriptions, we went through the booking as a client in six systems, up to the details screen or the screen that demands an account. No visit was confirmed. The number of screens runs from the salon page (in Slotsy from the service link) to the place where "confirm" can be pressed.
| System and the page we counted on | Screens to confirmation | Fields to fill in | Account |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slotsy, a pilates studio in Kraków, service link | 3: date → time and payment → details with confirmation | 4: first name, last name, phone, email | no |
| Nakiedy, a men's hairdresser in Pabianice | 3: service → day and time → details | 3: full name, email, phone, plus a consent | no |
| Bookero, the demo site test.bookero.pl | 2: one form (category, service, staff, day, time) → cart with details | 3: full name, email, phone, plus 2 consents | no |
| Fresha, a massage salon in Kraków | 4 to the gate: services (variant in a dialog) → staff → date and time → "Sign in or sign up" | phone and SMS code, or email / Google / Apple, then account details | yes |
| SimplyBook.me, the Beauty demo (minimalbeautydemo) | 5 to the gate: location → category → service → add-ons → time → "Sign Up And Continue" | email and password, or Google / Facebook | yes, in this demo configuration |
| Booksy, a hair salon in Warsaw, with a signed-in account | 3: add-ons in a dialog → date and time → confirm; no fields, the data is in the account | — | yes, per the help centre: registration with an SMS code; guest booking could not be checked without signing out |
The conclusion is less striking than "the simplest on the market", and therefore true: three systems out of six book without an account, Slotsy, Nakiedy and Bookero, and their screen counts are similar. Slotsy asks for one field more than the other two (last name separately), but is the only one of the three with a page in three languages and a link to a specific service that skips the list. The two marketplaces and the SimplyBook.me demo stop the client at a sign-in.
Three screens from the link to the confirmation
This is how booking looks in Slotsy when a client comes from a link to a specific service, the kind you paste into a post about a free slot.
- Date. A calendar with dots: green means places, amber means few, red means full. The service is already chosen, and in solo mode there is no staff choice either.
- Time. Free times; taken ones crossed out. For group classes the number of places left shows under the time. Here too the choice of how to pay, if online payments are on or the client holds a pass.
- Details and confirmation. First name, last name, phone, email; a note if she wants. Beside it the visit summary, above the button your cancellation rules in one sentence. One tap and the visit is confirmed; with prepayment, BLIK or a card follows.
Then the email arrives: summary, address, a link to the visit. From that link the client cancels or reschedules within your window, with no account and no password. She gets a reminder 24 hours and 1 hour before.
From the general link to the salon page two screens are added: choosing a service from the list and, in a salon with a team, choosing a person (or "any available"). In solo mode the second disappears by itself. Details: How to book.
Why we do not ask for an account
A booking is a contract between the client and your salon. Three things are enough to conclude it: who, when, how to get in touch. An account adds nothing to that contract; it only adds a screen on which some people disappear.
An account in Slotsy comes into being only when the client herself wants to see her visits or buy a pass. And even then there is no password: she gives her email, gets a one-time link valid for 15 minutes, taps it and is signed in; or one press through Google. A pass is issued to an email address, which is why buying a pass needs a sign-in, the only moment we ask for it. Ways to sign in.
The details a client enters at booking go into your client records, with visit and no-show history, not into a shared platform database.
How to make the page even simpler
Three screens is the minimum the system gives. The rest of the simplicity is yours, through settings.
- Solo mode if you work alone: the staff choice screen disappears. Solo mode.
- A service link instead of a page link in every post about a free slot: the Share → Service button. The client lands straight on the date. Share your booking page.
- Few services, clear names. Six services named as in your posts book better than twenty variants. Describe variants in the service description, not in the name.
- Leave pay on site on until no-shows are a problem: the payment screen is one more screen. When they are, prepayment and deposits.
- Cancellation rules in one sentence. The client should read them in three seconds above the button, not in terms on a separate page. Cancellation Rules.
- Approval off. The mode in which you confirm every visit by hand makes sense for long treatments; for the rest it means the client does not know whether she has a slot. Booking Approval.
- Service translations into the languages your clients write in. The page picks the browser language itself. Translations.
Where simplicity costs
Honestly: booking with no account and no card has a price, and you should know it before choosing.
- No card on file. Since we do not ask for a card at booking, we cannot charge it after a no-show. No-show protection in Slotsy is cancellation rules with recorded consent and, if you want, full prepayment, not a held card as with Booksy or Fresha.
- No app for the client. Reminders go by email (and by SMS from a package), not as an app notification. For clients who do not read email, SMS has to be bought.
- A marketplace with an account has its advantage. An account with Booksy or Fresha is at the same time access to their catalogue and to visit history across many salons. Our catalogue is free and needs no account, but it is younger.
If your clients come from Instagram and referrals, simplicity wins. If you count on a stranger finding you in an app, the marketplace account is part of that price.
Five mistakes we see most often
- A link to the home page instead of the service. Two extra screens with every post about a free slot.
- Twenty services on the list. The client does not know whether "gel manicure classic" is what she wanted. She drops out on the first screen.
- Staff choice in a one-person salon. Solo mode exists so that screen does not.
- Prepayment required from day one. Before clients trust the page, the payment screen stops some of them. Turn prepayment on when you see no-shows, not before.
- Terms instead of a sentence. Nobody reads a link to three pages of terms above the button; everyone reads one sentence about cancellation.
Frequently asked questions
Does the client really not have to create an account? She does not. She enters first name, last name, phone and email; the confirmation and the link to the visit come by email. An account comes into being only when she signs in herself, by a link from an email, with no password.
How does a client cancel without an account? From the link in the confirmation email, within your cancellation window. Later she has to write, and you decide.
Can I require an account or phone verification? No. Slotsy has no such setting; no-show protection is the cancellation rules and prepayment.
How long does booking take? Three screens from a service link. We do not measure time, because it depends on the phone and the client; check on your own page from an incognito window.
Can a client book someone else? Yes: she enters the details of the person who will come. The confirmation goes to the email entered.
What about passes? A pass is issued to an email address, so when buying one we ask for a sign-in, by a link from an email, with no password. An ordinary visit needs nothing.
